System Description

NYSAN BRISE SOLEIL SYSTEMS

The general construction of a Z Panel system is as shown below. Construction of a Z Panel system

A standard Panel system is made up of the following key components:

  • Brackets to fix the system back to the façade,
  • Support arms which project from the façade
  • Fixed louvers (generally either a ‘Z’ or a ‘C’ profile) which run either above or below the support arms
  • Optional diagonal brace arms may also be required to provide additional support back to the window wall or building structure

There are two main options with this type of system:
1) Continuous louvers which run along the length of the window wall
Continuous louvers
2) A framed system with discrete louver panels which are installed above individual windows.
Discrete louver panels
Discrete louver panels 3D

The most appropriate system will depend upon the building design and the specific architectural requirements.

The key dimensions for the different ‘Z’ louver systems are as follows:

Continuous systems:
Maximum distance between support arms 5’0” (1500mm)
Maximum projection from window wall:
Without diagonal brace 4’3” (1310mm)
With diagonal brace arm 5’7” (1710mm)

Panelized systems:
Maximum panel width: 11’9” (3600mm)
Maximum projection from the window wall:
Without diagonal brace 4’0” (1200mm)
With diagonal brace arm 5’10” (1800mm)
Maximum panel area 43 ft² (4 m²)

Within the system offered, there are a number of standard components as follows:

‘Z’ louver 2 3/8” high x 3 ½” wide (60mm x 90mm)
Single support arm 2 7/8” high x 1 7/16” wide (73mm x 36mm)
Double support arm 2 7/8” high x 1 9/16” wide (73mm x 40mm)
Standard front or rear rail 3 1/8” high x 1” wide (80mm x 25mm)
Bullnose front rail 3 1/8” high x 2 3/8” wide (80mm x 60mm)
Panel side frame 2 7/8” high x 1” wide (73mm x 25mm)
Intermediate panel support arm 7/16” high x 1” wide (11mm x 25mm)

Brackets to fix the system to the window wall are generally designed to meet the specific requirements of the project, although the single and double support arms have been designed to slide onto a standard aluminum section.
